Mission
To Inspire Through the History, Arts, and Culture of Thrace
Immortal Thrace is an independent English-language gateway to the history, arts, landscapes, and cultural inheritances of ancient Thrace. It exists to bring serious, accessible, and honest scholarship to readers who were never given a clear entrance into that world.
What Immortal Thrace Covers
The Ancient Thracian World
The history of Thracian peoples and polities, from the Bronze Age through the Roman period
The Odrysian Kingdom and its political, diplomatic, and cultural reach
Thracian archaeology: tombs, sanctuaries, metalwork, coinage, and material culture
Myth, religion, and ritual: Orpheus, Zalmoxis, Sabazios, and the Thracian Horseman
The arts: goldwork, silver, painting, music, and contemporary creative responses
The landscapes: Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Romania, Serbia, and North Macedonia
Living cultural inheritances and the scholars, artists, and institutions preserving them
How the Work Is Researched
Evidence First
Immortal Thrace draws on published archaeological reports, peer-reviewed scholarship, museum catalogues, ancient literary sources, and direct field observation. Every factual claim is sourced. Where evidence is limited, disputed, or absent, that uncertainty is stated plainly. The site distinguishes between established evidence, ancient testimony, scholarly interpretation, and speculative inquiry.
Editorial Independence
No Institutional Affiliation
Immortal Thrace is not affiliated with any university, museum, government body, or commercial sponsor. Editorial decisions are made independently. The project does not accept payment for coverage, does not publish unverified claims, and does not present inference or myth as archaeological fact.
Collaboration
Built With the People Who Know
The strongest version of Immortal Thrace will be built in partnership with archaeologists, historians, museum professionals, artists, craftspeople, local guides, and cultural organizations across the Thracian region. If your work touches the history, arts, or living cultural inheritances of Thrace, I would value the opportunity to learn about it.
